Roses of the Past

November 14th is celebrated as Children's Day in India. This day being the birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru is aimed at promoting the children as he loved them. Chacha Nehru was a favourite with all the children.

India's first Prime minister had a special interest in the welfare of the young ones. A new democratic nation bringing together a rainbow 🌈 of many religions, languages and customs certainly was a hot pie to handle. The future of it was indeed in the hands of the children born after the independence. He could sense that and spent happier moments with them. With India being pushed into three wars within twenty years, the victims could have been the school/ college students. It could have easily affected the mental and physical health of children. But everything was well managed so that normal lives continued . It takes a huge effort to give any country stability. Hence the few decades after the independence were well spent on giving the country a firm ground and a decent place in the international scene. Attention was given to the development of industries, educational institutions, research organisations, agriculture and music/ fine arts. The efforts resulted into a homogeneous bouquet of youths who carried the nation towards progress and peace.

These children/ youths of those formative years of India have now entered their silver years. A big happy group of seniors who respect both technology as well as old traditions is now leading India's future . A meaningful proactive role played by them is the essence of the Indian society now.

Good Administrators sowed the seeds in the fragrant earth many years ago, nurtured and watered them carefully to give the country its most important section of the population. This tribe has not stopped learning at all. They have the courage to face the social changes, their own illnesses, crumbling households , financial constraints etc.

This celebration of children's day is not just memories but a worthy cause too.
