The burning question today is what is progress and how much of it is a deviation from tradition and culture. The pull and push between the liberals and the faithfuls have taken the centrestage in almost the entire world. The Judiciary is torn between the two trying to keep its unbiased character alive. The picture above depicts the present state of our country specifically, with a serious divide between the fundamentalists and others both at loggerheads with each other. The central core being the same , classicism is decluttered into broader patterns to complement the whole on the other half.

What triggers the suddenness and brashness of religious fanatics? They blow up the entire country and its legal system and force them to take a cover and cool down to sort out the issue in the best possible way ? Who are the people involved and supported by whom? All the governments are well aware of the troubleshooters. Simply booking them alone will not solve or stop any further incidents in the future. The supporting arms of these loud and scary elements should be warned or cautioned.

Hijab, Nakab, Purdha, Veil, Ghoonghat using Scarfs, dupatta, odhani and sarees are all manifestations of modesty adding to the decorum of the girl/ Lady adorning. Since olden times these have been used for polite decent behaviour to add to the etiquette of women. As women took to change and came out into the society from their families, these symbolic expressions got dropped . They seamlessly handled many roles and powerful positions in Nation building. The use of the face gear or head gear is now restricted to family and religious functions .

Again the women folk have surpassed the men in adopting to modernization in Indian society. They have tried to keep their conservative side intact by following the traditions and practices alongside dancing to the tune of the 21st century. They are everywhere doing something.

As a conscious effort in furthering their place secured in the future of the country and world, women should stop carrying religion on their sleeves. Faith for self and general outlook while outside will help them achieve this. This holds true for all.

The main cause for concern now is the speed with which things are happening. Any proposal takes time to be properly implemented. The indiscreet manner in which the events occur show a sharp decline in the persuasive powers of people. The schools and colleges cannot be made into trade union camps. The warring factions of the students need good counselling.

Finally what matters is the comfort what a girl really wants. So let her /them have. But give them a time frame to rethink and act. Nothing can be done other than allowing the female students to make up their minds. May progressive conservatism take over them.
